Wilton Justice Group
MISSION STATEMENT:
“We, the Wilton Justice Group, inspired by Christian values, are committed to educating ourselves on issues of injustice, local and global; taking actions to address these issues, and encouraging others to do the same.”
Wilton Justice Group was founded in 2015 and since then has engaged in activities and events aimed at raising awareness of and making a practical response to justice issues such as poverty, homelessness and climate change.
The Group promotes awareness of the effects of climate change in Ireland and across the globe. We support projects such as the school climate strikes and the Great Green Wall Project that is aiming to limit desertification in Africa.
Wilton Justice Group also advocates care of the local environment. In 2018, St. Joseph’s Church Wilton became an eco-congregation. We promote biodiversity through supporting the church’s organic garden and by promoting the use of eco-friendly materials in Church environs.
Wilton Justice Group, with the support of St. Joseph’s Church Wilton, acts on behalf of the homeless, immigrants and asylum seekers. Past campaigns included collaboration with the Simon community to fundraise for shelter for the homeless, and collecting presents for the children of asylum seekers each Christmas.
