A series of Lenten talks will take place in The Crypt, Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit, Ballineaspaig Parish, Dennehy’s Cross Cork.

Our next talk will take place on Tuesday 25th March – 7.30 pm: Fr. James McSweeney, Co-PP Carrigaline Parish

Fr. James has been keeping bees for many years. He describes it as a lovely hobby and a great way to stay in touch with nature, with the rhythms of the seasons. As a beekeeper you always sense how everything is connected, sacred and that nothing happens in isolation.

In this talk he will share with us some bits and pieces about bees, beekeping, what happens in a beehive, how they make honey, how they swarm and so much more. You don’t have to be a beekeeper to attend this talk, just have curiosity about bees, their role in nature and the life of a beekeeper. He will also share the names of plants you can grow in your garden that the bees will simply love. Most important of all, we will do some honey tasting of different types of honey. No two jars of honey are ever the same!
